Foxtrot base module variants
The base module is the heart of the Foxtrot system.
It contains the controller, communication interfaces, and the master of expansion buses, defining how the system is used and expanded.
All variants are based on the same Foxtrot platform, differing only in form factor and typical use.
Base modules with integrated I/O
Compact base modules with CPU and basic digital and analog I/O integrated into a single device.
Typical features:
-
DIN-rail mounting
-
integrated inputs and outputs
-
further expansion via CIB® and TCL2 buses
-
compact solution without additional modules
Suitable for:
-
small and medium-sized applications
-
standalone technologies
-
distributed installations in buildings and industry

Base module without I/O – CP-2090
CP-2090 is the only Foxtrot base module without integrated I/O.
All inputs and outputs are implemented exclusively via expansion modules.
Typical features:
-
CPU without integrated I/O
-
expansion via CIB® and TCL2 buses
-
conceptually close to a modular PLC system (external I/O only)
Suitable for:
-
applications with a large or variable number of I/O
-
systems with separate control cabinets
-
compact programmable protocol and interface converters where local I/O is unnecessary

Customer-specific embedded variants (OEM, Open Frame)
Customer-specific Foxtrot base module variants designed for integration into the customer’s own product.
These are not DIN-rail devices, but enclosure-less embedded modules consisting of:
-
a stack of electronic boards
-
a front cover plate
Mechanical protection and enclosure are provided by the customer as part of the final product
(e.g. heat pumps, HVAC units, catering equipment).
Key characteristics of OEM variants:
-
custom manufacturing subject to minimum order quantities
-
configurable combination of I/O, communication interfaces, and bus masters
-
selectable power supply levels and connector or terminal types
-
standard Foxtrot expansion modules can be used when TCL2 and/or CIB® bus masters are retained
-
long-term availability and platform compatibility
Accessibility:
-
customer-specific modules are available only after login
-
visible only to authorized customer users
(e.g. purchasing, designers, programmers, management)

One platform, one logic
Regardless of the variant:
-
the same development tool
-
the same programming model
-
the same control architecture
-
the same long-term support
The difference lies in the form factor—not in system capabilities.
