Foxtrot expansion modules
Expansion modules make it possible to adapt the Foxtrot system to a specific application—by the number, type, and nature of inputs and outputs.
As a PLC system, Foxtrot is based on the international standard IEC 61131 (EN IEC 61131).
This is also reflected in the concept of expansion modules connected via the TCL2 system bus.

TCL2 – PLC expansion modules according to IEC 61131
The TCL2 bus is used to connect standard PLC peripherals—digital and analog inputs and outputs—in accordance with IEC 61131.
Key characteristics:
-
deterministic system bus for PLC I/O
-
up to 10 modules per bus
-
each module has a unique address (set by rotary switch)
-
separate data and power lines
-
primarily intended for local expansion within a control cabinet
Digital I/O modules
-
digital inputs, outputs, or combinations thereof
-
typically 12 channels per module
-
standard operating voltages 24 V DC or 230 V AC
-
LED indication for each input and output
Analog I/O modules
-
8 analog inputs per module
-
selectable measurement type:
-
voltage
-
current
-
resistance
-
-
measurement ranges configurable in the application program
-
LED indication of analog input and output status
Special measuring modules for demanding industrial applications are also available
(details are covered in the Applications and References sections).
CIB® – installation expansion modules
The CIB® (Common Installation Bus) represents a separate domain of Foxtrot system expansion.
It is designed for:
-
sensors
-
controllers
-
actuators
-
large-scale and distributed installations
CIB® has its own rules, module types, and system design methodology.
➡️ That is why CIB® has a dedicated page.

One platform, two expansion paths
Foxtrot allows:
-
combining TCL2 (PLC peripherals)
-
and CIB® (installation modules)
within a single system, depending on the application requirements.
Technological I/O and installation components have different demands—Foxtrot addresses them separately.
